The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest battle of World War 2 spanning between 1939-1944. The Axis (Germany, Italy, Japan) fought vigorously against the allies (Britain, Canada, United States Of America) for control of the Atlantic sea. Having control over the Atlantic meant the Allies could move and transport troops and supplies to the front lines with ease. This was the most important battle of WWll . Whoever controlled the water would win the war.
